Guidelines for Daily Time With God
Monday - Participation
James 1:22 "But prove yourselves doers of the word, and not merely hearers who delude themselves."
Pray for awareness of the needs around you; a sense of how your gifts can be used; the urging of the Holy Spirit to motivate you into action.
Tuesday - Love
Romans 5:5 "And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love."
Pray for the ability to see yourself and others from God's perspective. Pray that you can understand how much God loves you and that you can reflect this love as you interact with your family, friends, community, and the world.
Wednesday - Grace
Ephesians 2:8-9 "God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can't take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it."
Pray for a heart that accepts God's blessings, knowing they are given out of his mercy and not as reward for good behavior. Thank God for his bountiful grace. Ask that you may be graceful in your relationships with those around you.
Thursday - Peace
John 14:27 "I am leaving you with a gift - peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a peace the world cannot give. So don't be troubled or afraid."
Pray for peace in your heart, peace in your family, peace in your city, peace in our country, peace in the world. Pray that the turbulence in our world will be calmed by an understanding of God's desire that we live in unity. Pray that God will make you a channel of his peace.
Friday - Forgiveness
Colossians 3:13 "Make allowance for each other's faults, and forgive anyone who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others."
Pray for the ability to recognize your own faults and need for forgiveness, and then for the ability to forgive others and accept their human shortcomings.
Saturday - Sabbath/Rest
Deuteronomy 5:12 "Observe the Sabbath day to keep it holy, as the Lord your God commanded you."
Pray that you will realize the need for time away from daily activities so that you will find refreshment for your mind, spirit and body. Pray that this time of rest will be a lifeline to God, a time to rediscover who you are in God's eyes.
