What is Rotation Workshop Model?

Wesley is pleased to offer your Pre-school through 5th grade child a Sunday Church School model known as the Workshop Rotation Model. This Model is based on Howard Gardner's theory of multiple intelligences. This Harvard educator believes that most people learn best in one or more of eight learning styles and preferences. The model's popularity with churches throughout the country has grown because it incorporates Bible skills, games, drama, music, creative arts and technology. The contemporary benefits of ministering with this model are: repetition, multi sensory learning, and a revitalization of volunteering.

How does the Rotation Work?

Children are divided into age level classes that rotate through different workshops over a 3-4 week period.
One Bible story is studied per month. The children learn through multi-sensory approaches in a different setting each week, designed specifically to accentuate that particular experience.
The children guided on their journeys by their Shepherd, or Sunday school teacher. A special bond is formed during the year between the "Shepherd" and his/her "Flock".
A Workshop Leader leads each workshop. A Workshop Leader needs only commit to three Sundays or one Rotation.

Workshops for Preschool - 5th Grade

Garden of Gethsemane

Walk in this garden to create masterpieces that artistically express a Bible story. This workshop is a place where children experience the Bible spatially by visualizing, drawing, painting, sculpting, and using photography. Room 301

Directvine.com

This high-tech room is furnished with computer equipment. In this workshop, children experience ministry logically, through the critical thinking skills needed to solve problems, puzzles, and games introduced through computer software. Room 302

Olive Branch Movie House

Is that movie theater popcorn I smell? You bet. This is your ticket to experience the Bible in one of today's most popular mediums, Video. Have a bag of freshly popped movie theater popcorn and enjoy the day's attraction proudly presenting all the major Bible stories. Room 303

The Temple of Growth

Each Sunday morning your child won't want to miss our all ages gathering in the Temple for a fifteen minute Worship Service before setting out to their scheduled Workshop. If you are lucky your Workshop may even be the linguistic workshop in the Temple. Here, children will experience the Bible through books, journal writing and storytelling. Room 304

Nicodemus Playhouse

Does your child learn best kinetically? If so, enjoy our Playhouse where the Bible is experienced through drama, mime, role-play, puppetry, dance, creative movement and cooperative games. Room 305

Kitchen

Occasionally children rotate to the church kitchen and again experience the Bible spatially, except this time their taste buds will be invited to join in the fun! During this workshop, children will experience the Bible by preparing food and tasting their culinary accomplishments
