HAPPY
NEW YEAR! Thank you for visiting Wesley UMC website. There are many interesting
things going on here at Wesley Church. If you have time, I encourage you to
browse the different ministry pages in this website. But if you don't have
time, I would like you to know that Wesley Church is a community of faith that
seeks to live out the heart of Jesus' religion: To Love God and fellow human
beings. Jesus' faith is a way of life not a creed or ritual or symbols. Of
course ritual, symbols, teachings and disciplines are important. However, these
are to serve the way of life which is love all the time.
We
have two Sunday services: Classic/Traditional Service at 9 in the morning and
the Contemporary Service at 11 am. We have fellowships and studies in between
the services. On Wednesday night we gather as a church for food and fellowship,
choir practice, study, devotion and prayer. During the week, we have a
pre-school for 3-5 years old kids. Our pre-school teachers and staff are
excellent in loving your child as their own, teaching your child not only about
knowledge but also life's wisdom.
In
addition, we have on-going ministries all year round, among them include:
partnership with a local school (Greenman); ministry with immigrants (Justice
for our Neighbors [JFON] and hospitality with Refugees; local missions with
Hesed House, Feed my Starving Children, food pantry, doing yard work with
elderly folks; yearly mission work in Henderson Settlement, (Frakes, KY); partnership
with Salvation Army Bell Ringing and Golden Diners Club, Police chaplaincy,
couples/family therapy and counseling; book clubs; men, women, youth, and
family ministries; Recycle your Bicycle; cooperation with World Service and
People for Child Care; Movie Nights; School Supplies-Give-Away; Master's Meal; and
many more. I am sure, there is something that may interest you for your own
growth in faith or a joyful act of service to others.

Creation X Kingdom
of God
A
similar illustration like the diagram above was said to have been used by C.S.
Lewis to explain God's plan of salvation. When God created the world, it was
very good. Not too long, humans chose to disobey God and the goodness of
creation continuously diminished. When the world was at its darkest, at its
worst, Jesus Christ was born to save the world. And thus a crossroad was
formed. The worst moment became the beginning of the best days; the darkest
moment became again the start of brighter days; the day of sin and death became
the start of a new and fuller life; the day of doom became the day of salvation;
the day of hopelessness and desperation became the day of hope for best future
that God had planned for all. This crossroad happened at Christmas and will
culminate when the kingdom of God will become a reality. This kingdom of God is
the culmination of history; it is beyond history when God will be fully
revealed and the entire world will worship the living God forever.
St.
Paul calls this timetable of God as Kairos moment. "But when the fullness of time (Kairos) had come, God sent his Son ...
to redeem those under the law" (Galatians 4:3). The Bible speaks of two
ways to measure time. The first word is "Chronos" the root of the word "chronology."
This is measured by the ticking of the clock, the fleeting of the days and
months and years in the calendar. The second word is "Kairos." Kairos is
translated as God's time, the appointed time, the right time. Kairos is
measured by living the best of our lives; by seizing every moment to serve and
do the will of God. Every moment then is a potential "Kairos" time.
When
the fullness of time had come, Jesus Christ was born to save us all. May it be
said to all those who believe in God that they are seizing every moment to make
it a Kairos time to help bring the Reign of God a reality. May this Christmas
be a time to renew, reclaim and recover our Kairos moment. In an attempt to
rekindle our passion to transform every moment of our lives as a Kairos time,
Wesley Church is offering worship services and ministries throughout the year
to make the presence and working of God more visible and more experiential for
everyone - both for those who offers and for those recipients of these
ministries. This Christmas 2011 we offer services on Christmas Eve (Saturday, December
24) at 3 pm for the Contemporary Worship and at 7 pm for the Classic Worship.
In both worship services we offer the festival of lights through candle lighting.
Both Christmas Day and New Year's Day, we offer only one service at 10 am. For
the other ministries of the Church that is Christ-centered, people-directed,
and love-motivated, we invite you to come and visit us during Sunday worship.
Regularly at 9 am for the Classic Service and 11 am for the Contemporary
Service. Or, you may call at 630-896-1033 or drop by in our church office, 8am -
2pm on Mondays - Thursdays and 8am - 12 noon on Fridays. Or if you prefer,

Friends, welcome

to browse our web pages and sections. There are many exciting things going on
in our life and work as a family of faith. I hope you will find some things
that would interest you and relevant to your life situation. Following are some
of the many ministries we offer:
Worship - We offer two worship services on
Sundays: Classic Service at 9 am and Contemporary Worship at 11 am.
·In
the Classic Service we find meaning, relevance and excitement in singing
historic hymns of the church; praying time-tested litanies, petitions, praise
and thanksgivings; reading and meditating on the words and passages from
scriptures; feasting on the interpretations of Bible stories and accounts;
enjoying the melodious musical offerings of the chancel choir; receiving with
humble and grateful hearts the Holy Sacraments; and relax in a quiet, peaceful
and solemn worship atmosphere.
·In
the Contemporary Service - we find meaning, relevance and joy of being before
God through more relax and less formal worship ambience; enjoy creative ways of
reading and interpreting the Scriptures; swaying and sometimes dancing with the
rhythm of modern and current songs and music.
Education - we offer education and learning
opportunities through our weekday pre-school, Sunday school for all ages, Wednesday night
dinner, study and rehearsals; weekday and occasional studies; all-year round small
and interest groups; men, women, family , youth and children's ministries.
Mission and Outreach - we seek to be faithful in bringing
the Good News of Jesus Christ into the world through partnership with Greenman
School; packaging workshop at "Feed my Starving Children;" caring for the less
fortunate through food pantry, clothes collection, soup kitchen and Master's
Meal in Spring and Christmas; extending help to school children families
through the School-Supply-Give-Away; providing service through neighborhood
mission and mission trip to Henderson Settlement (in Frakes, KY) in the summer.
These are
some of the things that we do to know and make know the all-inclusive,
unconditional love of God. If you have questions or want to know more about us,
