Mondays at 7:00pm via Zoom
Our current study is on a Bishop John Shelby Spong lecture: Jesus for the Non-Religious. This is a 68 minute distillation of Bishop Spong's understanding of the God-presence in Christ. In this lecture, Spong explores the meaning of "Christ", images of Messiah, how Christ has been experienced through the ages, and how the divinity of Christ has its ultimate expression in a fulfilled humanity.
Each week we will tackle a bite size (15-18 minute) slice of this lecture and spend some time to reflect on Bishop Spong's comments.
You will receive a simple worksheet with some notes on the section of the lecture we are discussing. There will be space for you to add your comments, queries, and reflections on what has been said.
The meeting is via Zoom and will be one hour in duration beginning at 7pm CST on Monday evenings for four weeks. There will be some references to biblical passages for your review, if so chosen by you to do so.
